In several places in the system, the search engine is presented to help you select a record for viewing, editing or simply information that it contains.
If the search leads to record management and your rights allow you to add a new record, the "New Folder" option will be presented.
This tool always presents a certain number of folders (according to the sorting in effect) and a single search box in which you can directly enter the word or portion of the word searched for.

The "GO" button or the "ENTER" key allows you to launch the search on the word or portion of the word entered.
The results are then displayed to allow you to complete your selection and access the file.

The search engine has two search modes:
1- the key search mode (very fast) EX: "dum"
finds "Dumont Marcel", "Dumoulin Richard", etc... because the word = the search
key (in this case the name)
2- the approximate search mode (less fast)
where the engine will search for the word or part of a word in all
active keys
Example: "mar" finds "Forget Martin", "Boutin Marcel", etc... the more
precise the word, the more precise the results.
Depending on the mode activated by the program (AUTO or MANUAL) the approximate
search is activated simultaneously (to search on portions of words
within several words.
If the automatic mode is active (as in the default clients)
the following options (advance to the next page and return to the previous page)
are found at the bottom of the page.
If the automatic mode is not activated, the search will be done on the
primary sorts of the database. The approximate search option
performs the same search on all relevant fields regardless of the position of the search
key.
Example:
Search key: Denis
In automatic mode, "Denis Marcel", "Tremblay Denis", and "Moreau Denise"
will be presented.
In automatic mode deactivated, "Denis Marcel" will be the
only presented.
Automatic mode is slower for databases with more than 10,000 records. In this case, it will be advantageous to disable automatic mode.
The old advanced search is no longer required and has been abolished in version 5
